abstract The invention relates to a pesticide composition containing thiamethoxam and azadirachtin. The pesticide composition is prepared from the thiamethoxam and azadirachtin, as well as wettable powder, a suspending agent and a water dispersible granule, wherein the wettable powder, the suspending agent and the water dispersible granule are prepared from auxiliary agents including an emulsifying agent, a wetting agent, a dispersing agent, a filling agent and the like. The invention further provides a method for applying the composition of the thiamethoxam and the azadirachtin to prevent and treat Chinese chive root maggots. The thiamethoxam and the azadirachtin are mixed in a ratio in a range from 1: 1 to 1: 8, the toxicity to the Chinese chive root maggots is high and the synergism is obvious. The pesticide composition disclosed by the invention is not only used for preventing and treating the Chinese chive root maggots and can also be widely applied to vegetables, wheat and tea trees; the pesticide composition is used for preventing and treating aphids, thrips, small brown rice planthopper and empoasca flavescens; and the application value is great and the economical and social benefits are very obvious.
