abstract The invention discloses a preparation method for modified foundry furan resin, which is characterized by comprising the following steps of: (1) dissolving 100 parts by weight of saccharides in 40-200 parts by weight of water, and then adding 0.1-50 parts by weight of phenols and 5-50 parts by weight of acid, reacting for 0.5-10 hours in a temperature condition of 70-100 DEG C, cooling to 30-90 DEG C, adding pH value to 7.5-10, adding 0.1-20 parts by weight of formaldehyde, heating to 60-100 DEG C and reacting for 0.5-6 hours, and then removing 5-280 parts by weight of water to obtain a viscous liquid; and (2) taking the viscous liquid obtained in the step (1) as a part of furfuryl alcohol substitutes, and preparing foundry furan resin according to the conventional process for foundry furan resin; wherein the dosage of the viscous liquid is equivalent to the weight of the substituted furfuryl alcohol, and is 1-20% of the total weight of the synthetic materials of foundry furan resin.
