titleOfInvention Method and apparatus for generating a three-dimensional model of a region of interest using an imaging system
abstract The present invention relates to methods and devices for generating a three-dimensional model of a region of interest using an imaging system. The present invention provides a method of generating a three-dimensional representation of a region of interest on a target object in an x-ray imaging system. The method utilizes fiducial markers with known geometries. The region of interest and fiducial markers are imaged in a plurality of predetermined locations. An expected image of the fiducial marker for each predetermined location is calculated and compared to a captured image of the fiducial marker at each predetermined location. Corrected images for each predetermined position of the region of interest are generated using the difference between the expected image and the captured image, and a three-dimensional model of the region of interest is generated using these corrected images. The method allows generation of useful three-dimensional models of regions of interest in x-ray imaging systems without the need for expensive mechanical positioning systems.
