abstract The invention discloses a high molecular weight styrene/diene/styrene thermoplastic elastomer and a preparation method of the elastomer. The elastomer is characterized in that the elastomer is a polymer which uses a linear styrene type thermoplastic polymer as the main chain and a styrene block has the styrene branched-chain. The preparation method comprises the following steps of: synthesizing a main chain containing lithiation units through an anion coupling technique; further carrying out lithiation reaction on the main chain; finally adding a styrene monomer and carrying out chain growth reaction of a styrene side chain by using generated lithiation points. The number-average molecular weight of the main chain of the elastomer disclosed by the invention is 15*10<4> to 30*10<4>, wherein the conjugated diene block molecular weight is large, a good adhesion property is provided, and meanwhile the styrene side chain in the styrene block ensures that the elastomer still has the thermoplastic property, so that a pressure-sensitive adhesive which is more sensitive to pressure and stronger in adhesion property is obtained.
