titleOfInvention Process for producing base glass material
abstract A process for producing a base glass material is provided in which the efficiency of adhesion of produced fine glass particles to a starting rod or to a mass of accumulated fine glass particles can be improved. In the process for producing a base glass material, the temperature of SiCl4 which is a raw-material gas is regulated to 100 C or higher to grow fine glass particles to an average outer diameter of 90 nm or more in a flame from a burner for producing fine glass particles, before the fine glass particles are deposited on a starting glass rod (13).
