abstract The invention relates to a catalyst for light cycle oil selective hydrodesulfurization and a preparation method thereof. The invention mainly solves the problem of great loss of aromatic hydrocarbons in the past catalyst in the hydrodesulfurization process. The catalyst for light cycle oil selective hydrodesulfurization comprises the following components in percentage by weight: 67.0-97.0% of composite supporter, and 1.0-8.0% of at least one of CoO and NiO and 2.0-25.0% of MoO3 supported on the composite supporter. The composite supporter comprises the following components in percentage by weight: 82.0-99.8% of Al2O3, 0.10-8.0% of B2O3 and 0.10-10.0% of P2O5. The technical scheme provided by the invention well solves the problem, and can be used in a light cycle oil selective hydrofining technique.
