abstract The invention discloses a viscous oil viscosity reducer containing a quaternary ammonium salt structure. A polar group in a molecular structure of the viscosity reducer can effectively reduce hydrogen-bond interaction between colloid and asphaltene in viscous oil; a long-chain alkyl group and a phenyl group in the molecular structure can increase solubility of the viscosity reducer in the viscous oil; a viscosity reduction effect is further improved; the quaternary ammonium salt structure in the molecular structure has an effect of destroying intermolecular interaction of the viscous oil by using electrostatic repulsion of a cation group when the viscosity reducer is uniformly dispersed in the viscous oil; and the viscosity reduction effect can be exerted obviously. In addition, the invention discloses a preparation method of the viscous oil viscosity reducer, which comprises the steps that 2,3-dihydroxy trimethyl ammonium chloride and oleic acid conduct esterification reaction and then conduct ternary polymerization reaction with styrene and maleic anhydride, and the viscous oil viscosity reducer containing the quaternary ammonium salt structure is obtained.
