The present invention relates to nonwoven materials comprising a multilayer stack comprising discrete interconnected layers, each of which may be the same or different, each comprising a composite fiber consisting of about 80-100% w/ w of leaf or stem fibers and about 1-20% w/w of a polymer, wherein the polymer is fusible at about 180°C or less. The present invention also relates to a novel process for enzymatic degumming of leaf and/or stem fibres. |
