abstract |
A beta-type sialon containing Eu in solid solution and represented by the general formula: Si6-zAlzOzN8-z, wherein the spin density is 6.0 X 1016 units/g or less in relation to g=2.00 +/-0.02 absorption at 25 DEG C by the electron spin resonance method. The method for producing the beta-type sialon has: a mixing step for mixing the ingredients; a sintering step for sintering the ingredients into the beta-type sialon after the mixing step; a temperature-increasing step for increasing temperature at a rate of 2 DEG C/min or less from 1500 DEG C to the sintering temperature of the sintering step when increasing the ambient temperature of the ingredients after the mixing step and before the sintering step up to the sintering temperature of the sintering step; an annealing step for annealing the beta-type sialon after the sintering step; and an acid-treating step for acid-treating the beta-type sialon after the annealing step. The present invention provides a beta-type sialon capable of achieving highly efficient light emission, a production method therefor, and a light-emitting device. |
