abstract The invention relates to a catalyst for synthesizing ethyl acetate and ethanol from hydrogenation of acetic acid, and a preparation method and an application thereof. The catalyst is composed of the components of, by weight, 8.0-23.0% of cobalt carbide, 1.0-5.0% of molybdenum carbide, nickel carbide or tungsten carbide and 75.1-91.0% of a carrier. The catalyst loaded with cobalt carbide is simple in preparation method and low in production cost. The synthesized ethyl acetate is short in reaction flow, mild in reaction conditions, has high transformation rate of acetic acid, high selectivity of ethyl acetate, good catalyst stability and low content of reaction by-products.
