abstract The invention relates to a method for catalpa bungei clonal seed selection. The method comprises that artificial catalpa bungei hybrid seed seedling culture is carried out, different families which are obtained through crossbreed are appraised through comparison so as to select the excellent families, then, according to the principles that a plurality of super seedlings are selected from the selected excellent families and less super seedlings are selected from the families which fail to be selected, the super seedling selection is completed, the super seedlings are cloned, and finally, clonal appraise test is carried out, so that a super seedling clone is obtained; the super seedling clone which is obtained through a catalpa bungei clonal crossbreeding method is subjected to three levels of screening test; the first-level screening adopts an interval contrast unduplicated design; the second-level screening adopts a random complete block design; and the third-level screening is that a land contrast test is carried out on different ecoregions, adopts the random complete block design and is combined with a small-scale afforestation test, so that catalpa bungei clone selections which are suitable for different ecoregions are completed. On the basis of continuously expanding the breeding population, suitable excellent clonal early selections of different ecoregions can be completed within 8-9 years.
