abstract The invention relates to a catalyst for compositing 1,3-cyclohexyl dimethylamine and a preparation method of the catalyst. The catalyst uses activated carbon as a carrier and comprises the following components in percentage by weight (100%): 4.0-6.0% of active component of ruthenium and 0.05-4.0% of promoted catalyst component of X. In the method, the activated carbon is soaked in the mixed solution formed by RuCl3.3H2O and X salt after treatment, the reaction temperature is controlled at 300-500 DEG C, and the reaction time is 0.5-5 hours, so that the catalyst used for compositing 1,3-cyclohexyl dimethylamine is obtained. Compared with the prior art, the catalyst is especially suitable for preparing the 1,3-cyclohexyl dimethylamine by hydrogenating m-xylylenediamine, and the catalyst is used for preparing the 1,3-cyclohexyl dimethylamine. The selectivity of the 1,3-cyclohexyl dimethylamine is improved, and the by-product of deamination and demethylamine can be inhibited.
