titleOfInvention | Friction material composition, and friction material and friction member using same |
abstract | This friction material composition comprises a binder, a fibrous base material, an abrasive, an inorganic filler and an organic filler, wherein the abrasive has a specific surface area of 400-800 m<2>/g as calculated using the BET method and preferably comprises a silicate exhibiting a Mohs hardness of 6 or less. If the friction material composition is used in a brake pad for vehicles, the resultant brake pad will not exhibit a significant decrease in the coefficient of friction under high temperatures in comparison to conventional brake pads, and will exhibit improved fade characteristics. Furthermore, it is possible to form friction materials and friction members capable of suppressing noise and squealing. |
