abstract |
Disclosed is a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery which can exhibit two properties, i.e., high safety and high durability, at the same time while retaining a high charge/discharge capacity. Specifically disclosed is a positive electrode active material for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery, which comprises secondary particles composed of fine secondary particles and coarse secondary particles and has an average particle diameter of 5 to 15 [mu]m, wherein the fine secondary particles comprise a lithium-nickel composite oxide having at least two metal elements including aluminum added thereto and have an average particle diameter of 2 to 4 [mu]m and the coarse secondary particles have an average particle diameter of 6 to 15 [mu]m, and wherein the aluminum content (metal molar ratio: SA) in the fine secondary particles is higher than the aluminum content (metal molar ratio: LA) in the coarse secondary particles and the aluminum concentration ratio (SA:LA) is preferably 1.2 to 2.6. |
