The present invention discloses crystalline colloidal arrays of particles comprising reactive surfactants covalently bonded to the surface of the particles. During formation of the array, retention of the attached surfactant on the particle sites results in a reduced number of defects compared to particle arrays prepared with non-reactive surfactants. |
