abstract The present invention relates to a phase change ink composition comprising an ester of tartaric acid and a method of preparing a phase change ink. The present invention also relates to a solid ink composition comprising an amorphous component, a crystalline material, and optionally a colorant, said ink composition being suitable for use in inkjet printing, including on coated paper printing on a substrate); and to a method of preparing said ink composition. In embodiments, the crystalline and amorphous components are synthesized by esterification of tartaric acid with an alcohol.
