titleOfInvention Amorphous and crystalline forms of Genz 112638 hemitartrate as an inhibitor of glucosylceramide synthase
abstract The hemitartrate salt of the compound represented by the following structural formula is disclosed: (formula I hemitartrate), which can be used in pharmaceutical applications. The particular single crystalline form of the hemitartrate salt of formula (I) is characterized by various properties and physical measurements. Also disclosed are methods of preparing the crystalline hemitartrate salt of formula (I) and using it to inhibit glucosylceramide synthase in a subject or reduce the concentration of glycosphingolipids in a subject to treat various diseases. Pharmaceutical compositions are also described.
