abstract The invention discloses a method for measuring gel rate of silk flosses. The method includes the following steps that (a) the silk flosses are subjected to degreasing preprocessing, silk floss samples are subjected to impregnation by petroleum ether with a boiling range from 50 DEG C to 60 DEG C, then the petroleum ether and fat extracts are extracted together; the above impregnation and extraction operations are circulated until greases in the silk floss samples are fully impregnated; the silk floss samples which are free of the greases are squeezed to be dry, the petroleum ether is enabled to volatilize naturally, the silk floss samples are dried to reach constant weight and are cooled to reach room temperature to obtain degreased silk floss samples, and the degreased silk floss samples are weighed to get W1; (b) the above degreased silk floss samples are subjected to degumming, the silk floss samples are washed after degumming and are scrubbed in a glacial acetic acid solution, and then the scrubbed silk floss samples are rinsed, dehydrated, dried, cooled and weighed to get W2; (c) the step (b) is checked to ensure that the degumming is complete, if the degumming is not complete, the step (b) is repeated to perform degrumming until the degumming is complete; and the gel rate is figured out according to the following formula: the gel rate of the silk flosses equals (W1 - W2) / W1*100%. The method for measuring gel rate of the silk flosses is developed, by means of the method, the measured data are accurate, and stability is good.
