Provided is an on-press development type lithographic printing plate precursor which has satisfactory performances with respect to all of on-press developability, ink receptibility, sensitivity, and printing durability. Also provided is a process of platemaking. The lithographic printing plate precursor comprises, in the following order, a support, an image-recording layer which comprises (A) an infrared absorber, (B) a free-radical polymerization initiator, and (C) a radical-polymerizable compound and in which, after exposure, the unexposed areas can be removed by supplying a printing ink and dampening water thereto, and an overcoat layer, the precursor being characterized in that the overcoat layer contains at least two inorganic lamellar compounds differing in crystal structure. |
