| abstract | The invention discloses a method of using straws to cover Guimu No.1 for overwintering, which includes steps: firstly, collecting seminal rhizomes of Guimu No.1, harvesting ripe straws, and neatly piling the straws together; secondly, performing storage, namely pruning and putting the seminal rhizomes of Guimu No.1 into an air-raid shelter or cellar, and covering with the straws or adding films prior to covering with the straws in winter; thirdly, preparing soil and fertilizer and performing cuttage, namely ploughing and leveling a land prior to ditching, placing integral seedlings in ditches flatwise, applying shed manure or miscellaneous manure, covering with soil 3-5cm high, and performing cuttage on late March to late May; fourthly, performing field management, namely tilling for weed removal, dressing urea with water for four to five times each year, and mowing seedlings five times a year; and fifthly, performing overwinter management, namely applying straws 8-10cm high around the rhizomes of Guimu No.1 and scattering a thin soil layer on the straws for covering after late autumn, so that heat insulation and warming effects are achieved for safe overwintering. The method is simple, practical, highly operable, low-cost, timesaving, laborsaving, effective, and applicable to Guizhou plateau. |
