abstract Provided is a light-diffusing film that is laminated on a substrate film and has a light-diffusing layer in which light-transmitting microparticles are diffused in a light-transmitting resin. Also provided are a method for manufacturing said light-diffusing film and a light-diffusing polarizing plate and liquid-crystal display device using said light-diffusing film. The aforementioned light-transmitting microparticles include first light-transmitting microparticles having a weight-average diameter greater than or equal to 0.5 [mu]m and less than 6 [mu]m, and second light-transmitting microparticles having a weight-average diameter between 6 [mu]m and 15 [mu]m, inclusive. The difference between the weight-average diameter of the first light-transmitting microparticles and that of the second light-transmitting microparticles is at least 2 [mu]m. By weight, the light-transmitting microparticles constitute 22 to 60 parts of the diffusion layer per 100 parts of the light-transmitting resin. The centerline average roughness of the surface of the light-diffusing layer is no greater than 0.2 [mu]m.
