The present invention discloses a method of treating cancerous tissue in the upper respiratory system comprising the steps of: injecting HPPH in a physiologically compatible medium to a patient with cancerous tissue at a level of 3 to 5 mg/ m2 body surface area, waiting for A period of 24 to 60 hours allows for preferential uptake of HPPH into the cancerous tissue, and the cancerous tissue is exposed to light having a wavelength of about 665±5 nm and an energy of about 75 to about 200 Joules/cm. |
