abstract |
Methods of treating and preventing metabolic disorders or other diseases by administering pyrone analogs or derivatives thereof are described. Also described are methods of treating and preventing metabolic disorders or other diseases by administering pyrone analogs or derivatives thereof in combination with one or more additional agents such as lipid-lowering or glucose-lowering agents. Modulation of lipid transporter activity to increase lipid efflux from physiological compartments into the external environment is described. The methods disclosed herein can be used to evaluate the treatment or prevention of a metabolic disorder following administration of a pyrone analog or derivative thereof. |
