Porous electrode base material, and process for production thereof |
abstract |
Disclosed are: a porous electrode base material which can be produced at low cost, has high mechanical strength, high thickness accuracy and high surface smoothness, and also has satisfactory levels of gas permeability and electrical conductivity; and a process for producing the porous electrode base material. For example, the process comprises a step (1) of dispersing carbon short fibers (A) and carbon fiber precursor short fibers (b) capable of being fibrillated by fluffing to produce a precursor sheet, and a step (2) of carbonizing the precursor sheet at a temperature of 1000 DEG C or higher. The process enables the production of a porous electrode base material in which the carbon short fibers (A) are bound to one another by means of the three-dimensional network-like carbon fibers (B). |
