abstract The present invention discloses a method for preparing a tetrahydropyran compound represented by the general formula (5) shown in the scheme. Therefore, tetrahydropyran derivatives are obtained in high yield and accompanied by high selectivity without using highly toxic reagents, and industrially useful methods for preparing tetrahydropyran derivatives and intermediates thereof can be provided. In formulas (1)-(5), R 1 and R 2 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group, or an aryl group that may have a substituent, and R 1 and R 2 may combined to form an alkylene group, thereby forming a ring; and R3 and R4 each independently represent a hydrogen atom or a linear, branched or cyclic alkyl group, and R3 and R4 may combine to form an alkylene group, Thus a ring is formed.
