A method of synthesising an amino acid derivative of azelaic acid |
abstract |
A method of producing an amide ester derivative of azelaic acid comprises treating an amino acid hydrohalide of the general formula (I): wherein R' is a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl, and R" is a substituted or unsubstituted side chain group of an amino acid selected from substituted or unsubstituted alkyl moiety, cyclic alkyl or aromatic moiety. The amino acid hydrohalide compound is to be dissolved in an aprotic solvent with an organic base to effect deprotonation, reacting the deprotonated product with an azelaic acid halide also dissolved in an aprotic solvent, contacting the reactant mixture with an anhydrous salt to remove any moisture therefrom and removing the aprotic solvent form the reactant mixture. |
