abstract The invention discloses a protein related with the size of a plant seed, a coding gene of the protein, and application of the coding gene. The protein is a protein 1) or a protein 2), wherein the protein 1) has amino acid sequences shown as a sequence 2 in a sequence table; and the protein 2) has an amino acid residue sequence which is derived from the sequence 2 by substituting and/or losing and/or adding one or more amino acid residues and is related with the grain type, length, width or weight of the plant seed. Experiments prove that overexpression rice is obtained by importing OsFBK12 into rice; the grain length, grain width and hundred grain weight of the seed of the overexpression rice are greater than those of a target plant; and by transforming the OsFBK12 gene, the change of the grain type and grain weight of the rice can be controlled, and a basis is provided for future breeding.
