abstract | Disclosed is a lithium ion secondary battery in which an electrode body composed of a positive electrode sheet comprising a positive electrode mix layer and a negative electrode sheet comprising a negative electrode mix layer laminated on each other is contained in a container together with a non-aqueous electrolytic solution. The negative electrode mix layer contains a carbon material having a graphite structure in at least a part thereof as a negative electrode active material. In the lithium ion secondary battery, a value a calculated in accordance with the following formula: a = SN is 1 1022 to 2.5 1022 wherein S [m2] represents a value obtained by converting the total surface area of the negative electrode active material contained in an area on the negative electrode mix layer which faces the positive electrode mix layer into a surface area per 1 Ah of battery capacity, V represents a value obtained by converting the total volume of voids contained in the above-mentioned area on the negative electrode mix layer into a volume per 1 Ah of battery capacity, and N [ions] represents the number of Li ions contained in a volume V of the non-aqueous electrolytic solution. |
