titleOfInvention Beta-sialon phosphor, use thereof and method for producing same
abstract Disclosed are an Eu-activated beta-sialon phosphor showing a high luminance, use of this phosphor and a method for producing the same. Specifically disclosed is a beta-sialon phosphor comprising, as a matrix, beta-sialon crystals represented by general formula: Si6-zAlzOzN8-z (0<z<4.2), wherein Eu, which serves as an activator, is present as a solid solution in said beta-sialon crystals, characterized in that, in the Eu composition, the ratio Eu2+/(Eu2++Eu3+) is 0.8 or greater. The amount of Eu in the solid solution in the beta-sialon crystals is preferably 0.1-1 mass%.
