abstract The invention discloses a method for optimizing HMIPv6 switching performance. The method adopts the mode of searching a common root node MAP to perform dynamic MAP selection, so as to solve the problems of MAP overload and load balance caused by an MAP with fixed largest selection distance being as forward proxy in an HMIPv6 protocol, particularly too long switching time delay during inter-domain switching; and simultaneously the method combining a rapid switching mechanism provides a mode of series repetitious address detection to optimize the HMIPv6 switching performance, and particularly the inter-domain switching performance. Besides solving the problems, the method also improves the network flexibility and expansibility.
