abstract | Provided is a method for manufacturing a zinc sulfide based phosphor by burning a zinc sulfide based phosphor precursor, which is characterized in that in a first burning step of burning a mixture containing a phosphor precursor, sulfur, and chlorine-containing flux, the mixture is heated from normal temperature to a temperature at which a crystal system of the phosphor precursor makes a transition under an atmosphere into which oxygen is introduced, and when the transition temperature is exceeded, the atmosphere is changed to a nitrogen atmosphere and the temperature rise by heating is further continued, then when the temperature reaches a temperature between 1000 DEG C and 1200 DEG C, the temperature is maintained constant, and subsequently the mixture is rapidly cooled and cleaned to thereby obtain a burned product, and in a second burning step of further burning the burned product obtained from the first burning step, the burned product obtained from the first burning step is heated from normal temperature to a temperature between 650 DEG C and 1000 DEG C under the nitrogen atmosphere, and when the temperature is reached, the temperature is maintained while oxygen is introduced, and subsequently the burned product is rapidly cooled and cleaned to thereby obtain the zinc sulfide based phosphor. |
