Disclosed is a flame-retardant resin composition exhibiting high heat resistance and flame retardancy, while having excellent workability and excellent flexibility or toughness. The flame-retardant resin composition is particularly useful for coating electrical wires and the like. Specifically, the flame-retardant resin composition contains, per 100 parts by weight of (A) a polybutylene terephthalate resin, 25-150 parts by weight of (B) a thermoplastic polyester elastomer, 5-40 parts by weight of (C) at least one phosphinic acid having an average particle diameter of not more than 10 [mu]m which is selected from phosphinates, diphosphinates and polymerized products of phosphinates or diphosphinates, 0.5-20 parts by weight of (D) an epoxy compound and 0.1-5 parts by weight of (E) an antioxidant. The antioxidant (E) contains a phenolic antioxidant (e-1) as an essential ingredient, while additionally containing at least one antioxidant selected from a phosphite antioxidant (e-2), a phosphonite antioxidant (e-3) and a thioether antioxidant (e-4). |
