abstract |
A video display device of a color sequential display type. A period from the start of writing image data into a display panel to the completion of image display on the basis of the image data in a sub frame is supposed to be a panel video writing period. A light source drive circuit generates a drive signal for gradually raising the luminance of the light source of a color corresponding to a display image in the present sub frame from zero to a predetermined value within the panel video writing period of the present sub frame and gradually lowering the luminance of the light source from the predetermined value to zero within the panel video writing period of the next sub frame. A light source driver makes the light source emit light according to the drive signal. |
