abstract A fuel cell system includes: a fuel cell; a fuel gas system which supplies a fuel gas to the fuel cell and circulates the gas exhausted from the fuel cell; a purge valve which exhausts the gas from the fuel gas system; and control means for controlling the open/close operation of the purge valve. The control means controls the open/close operation of the purge valve so that impurities partial pressure in the fuel gas system is constant in the entire load region.
