titleOfInvention | Chronic rejection inhibitor |
abstract | A study was made on the inhibitory effect of an anti-IL-6 receptor antibody on chronic rejection. Specifically, a study was made on the inhibitory effect of the administration of an anti-mouse IL-6 receptor antibody (MR16-1) on chronic rejection by using a mouse model of chronic rejection in heart transplantation. A transplanted heart removed 60 days after the transplantation was histopathologically analyzed, and it was found that the fibrosis in a cardiac muscle and the vascular restenosis lesion which are characteristic symptoms for chronic rejection were significantly inhibited in a group treated with MR16-1 compared to a control group. Thus, it is confirmed that the administration of MR16-1 can inhibit chronic rejection effectively. That is, it is found for the first time that rejection in the chronic phase after organ transplantation can be inhibited by administering an anti-IL-6 receptor antibody. |
