abstract A resin composition being high in mechanical strength properties, excelling in chemical properties, such as chemical resistance and heat resistance, being superior in the degree of freedom of product design and having a formulation paying attention to influences upon environment is provided at low cost. The resin composition is one based on a polyamide resin containing a cotton fiber as a natural fiber. The amount of cotton fiber added is preferably in the range of 1 to 25 wt.%. The polyamide resin is polyamide-11 utilizing castor oil as a raw material of plant origin. The average diameter of the cotton fiber is 100 [mu]m or less. A shaped article loaded with plant fiber can be obtained through melt kneading of a polyamide resin together with a cotton fiber and subsequent hot shaping. Not only plant fibers other than the cotton fiber, such as hemp fiber, bamboo fiber and wood powder, but also biofibers, such as silk fiber, can be used in the composition.
