titleOfInvention | Method for producing aqueous polymer dispersions containing at least one lipophilic active substance and the use thereof |
abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing aqueous dispersions containing at least one lipophilic active substance by emulsion polymerization of ethylenically unsaturated monomers in an aqueous medium in the presence of at least one lipophilic active substance. The method according to the invention comprises the following steps: (i) emulsifying at least one lipophilic active substance having a water solubility of not more than 5 g/l (established at 25 DEG C and 1013 mbar) and a melting point below 130 DEG C, in an aqueous solution which contains at least one dispersion stabilizer, while producing an aqueous solution of the active substance with an average particle size of not more than 1000 nm, and (ii) subjecting a monomer composition which contains at least 80% of a neutral, monoethylenically unsaturated monomer that can be emulsified in water, in the aqueous dispersion of the active substance obtained in step (1), to an emulsion polymerization. The invention also relates to the use of the dispersions obtained according to the invention as sizing agents for paper, paperboard and cardboard, for finishing and stabilizing thermoplastic polymers, for material protection and crop protection. |
