abstract The invention relates to a thermal electron source which comprises a base plate, a thermal electron emitter, a first electrode and a second electrode. The base plate is provided with a groove, and the thermal electron emitter is arranged on the surface of the base plate corresponding to the groove. At least part of the thermal electron emitter and the base plate are arranged with distance through the groove of the base plate. The first electrode and the second electrode are arranged with distance, which are electrically contacted with the thermal electron emitter.
