Recognizing the need to develop novel therapeutic agents and efficient methods for their synthesis, the present invention provides novel bifunctional, trifunctional or multifunctional compounds and pharmaceutically acceptable salts and derivatives thereof that inhibit histone deacetylases. The invention further provides a method of treating a condition modulated by histone deacetylase activity (e.g., proliferative disease, cancer, inflammatory disease, protozoal infection, alopecia, etc.), comprising administering to an individual in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of Compounds of the invention. The invention also provides methods of preparing the compounds of the invention. |
