A flame resistant fabric, manufactured from a blend of fibers comprises amorphous silica fibers; and at least one fiber selected from the group consisting of flame resistant (FR) fibers, binder fibers and mixtures thereof. A process for protecting materials in a product from fire and heat comprises assembling a flame resistant fabric adjacent to at least one component that comprises a material susceptible to damage due to exposure to fire and heat, occasioned by exposure to open flames.
