titleOfInvention Discharge lamp, backlight unit, and liquid crystal display
abstract The present invention relates to an external electrode fluorescent lamp. The external electrode fluorescent lamp (10) of the invention comprises a glass container (12), external electrodes (14 and 16) arranged at the external surface of the glass container, a protecting film (18) arranged at the inner surface of the glass container and a phosphor film (20). The protecting film is at least formed at the part corresponding with the external electrode and is the aggregation of the metal oxide (yttrium oxide). The average thickness of the protecting film is below 2 mu m and the surface roughness is below 1.7 mu m. This protecting film is arranged that no pin will be generated in the glass container.
