The invention relates to a method for production of substituted phenylmalonate esters of formula (I) where R = alkyl, Q = halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl or haloalkoxy and m = a whole number from 1 to 5, Q may be the same or different when m > 1, comprising the following steps A), B) and C), A) reaction of compounds of formula (II), where the variables have the meanings given in formula (I) to give compound of formula (III), B) reaction of compounds of formula (III) to give ketals of formula (IV) where R' = C<SUB>1</SUB>-C<SUB>4 </SUB>alkyl or benzyl, C) hydrolysis of compounds of formula (IV) to give compounds of formula (I), novel phenylmalonate ester derivatives and use thereof as intermediates. |
