titleOfInvention | Polynucleotides and methods for producing plants resistant to fungal pathogens |
abstract | The present invention relates to polynucleotide sequences encoding genes that confer resistance to the phytopathogen Trichospora, which causes anthracnose stalk rot, leaf spot and dieback of corn and other cereals. It also relates to plants and seeds of plants carrying chimeric genes comprising said polynucleotide sequences which enhance or confer resistance to the phytopathogen Trichospora, and methods for producing said plants and seeds . The present invention also provides sequences that can be used as molecular markers that can in turn be used to identify regions of interest in maize lines from new crosses and to rapidly and efficiently introgress the gene from maize lines carrying the gene into other maize lines that do not carry the gene to make them resistant to Trichospora and stem rot. |
