abstract The invention discloses a method for preparing a filter medium used for removing water cadmium in water, consisting of the following steps: a) mixing the raw materials containing ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene, activated carbon, magnesium hydroxide and pore-forming agent with a weight ratio of 100 to 300: 100 to 200: 100 to 250: 50 to 100; b) pressing a mixture obtained in step a) in a die, sintering and cooling. The filter medium prepared by the method can remove the metal cadmium in water with a removing efficiency of over 95 percent, and the method is easy with low cost and rapid effect.
