abstract | The invention relates to a method for producing leather. Said method is characterised in that pelts, pickled pelts or semi-finished products are treated with at least one polymer obtained as follows: copolymerisation of at least one ethylenically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride (A), derived from at least one dicarboxylic acid with 4 to 8 C-atoms, at least one vinyl aromatic compound (B) and optionally one ethylenically unsaturated monomer (C), which comprises at least one heteroatom and differs from (A); reaction with at least one compound (D) of general formula I a or I b, whereby at least 0.55 of an equivalent (D) is used in relation to (A); and optional hydrolysis using water or an aqueous alkaline solution. In formulas I a and I b the variables are defined as follows: A<1> can be identical or different and can represent C2-C6 alkene, R<1> represents linear or branched C1-C20 alkyl, n represents a whole number between 6 and 200. |
