titleOfInvention | Improved resin impregnated filter media |
abstract | A filter medium is made by coating and impregnating a woven or non-woven substrate with a thermosetting resin so that the yarns or fibres of the substrate are encapsulated and bonded at their points of contact. The resin is diluted to below 15 % e.g. 10 % solids and a rheology modifier such as hydroxy-ethyl cellulose is added before application. The resin is cured by heating to above its curing temperature. The resin may be pre-heated to drive of solvent after application but before curing. |
