abstract | The portable device for the automatic preparation of MALDI-TOF samples consists of a closed container (1) into which a sample container (5) is inserted. This sample container (5) contains a molecule (6) whose amount of substance is to be measured in a metrologically SI traceable manner. This molecule is separated from the other substances in the sample in an interference separator (20) and a liquid chromatography column (7) and then with a MALDI-TOF matrix solution (8) in a mixer (9) to form a MALDI -TOF mass spectrometry suitable mixture (10) prepared. Finally, the molecule-matrix mixture is deposited by a calibrated micropipette (11) as small droplets (12) with an exactly known volume in the range of a few microliters onto a sample plate (13) intended for MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. |
