The invention relates to a substrate (1) comprising a final silver surface protected against silver tarnishing by a protective layer (4) having a thickness between 1 nm and 200 nm. Said protective layer (4) comprises a first layer (4a) of Al 2 O 3 deposited on said final silver surface and having a thickness between 0.5 nm and 100 nm, and on the first layer (4a) of Al 2 O 3 , a second layer (4b) of TiO 2 having a thickness of between 0.5 nm and 100 nm. The present invention also relates to a method for protecting such a substrate (1). The substrate can be a timepiece dial. |
