A foot treatment cream (I) comprises (by weight) (a) 0.1-1 % carbomer, (b) 3-7% glycerol, (c) 0.01-0.07% disodium edetate, (d) preservative (as required), (e) 0.1-1% extract of red algae, (f) colorant (as required), (g) 0.5-1% polysorbate 80, (h) 0.01-0.5% menthol, (i) perfume (as required), (j) 30-40% powdered pumice, (k) 0-1% triethanolamine and (l) water to 100%. An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I), comprises: (i) cleaning and disinfecting the mixer to be used; (ii) introducing 70% of the water; (iii) adding (a) and mixing until dissolution is complete; (iv) adding a preformed solution of (b), (c) and (d) in 15% of the water; (v) adding (e); (vi) mixing (g) and (h) (with heating at up to 52 deg C if necessary) and adding the mixture (at room temperature) and (i) to the mixer; (vii) adding (j) slowly with continuous stirring; (viii) adding (k) (predissolved in the remaining water); and (ix) homogenizing to give a clear mixture. |
