abstract Peel film for containers contains 40-97 (wt.)% copolyester(s) (I) and 3-60% thermoplastic acetal, acrylic, amide, carbonate, ester, olefin, styrene or vinyl polymer(s) (II). If (I) is based on polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), in which 50-90 mol% of the acid component is terephthalic acid and 80-100 mol% of the diol component butanediol, then (II) is not a polyester. Pref. the film contains 75-90% (I) and 10-25% (II). (I) is a polyethylene terephthalate glycolate (PETG) or a copolymer of terephthalic acid and ethylene glycol and a mixt. of isophthalic acid, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol and diethylene glycol; and (II) is a polyolefin. The film may contain 3-20% filler. The film is the top or outer layer of a film composite or laminate and is 5-250 microns thick. USE/ADVANTAGE - The film is used for making easily opened containers and may also act as sealing film (claimed). It is useful for sealing e.g. bags, pots and dishes. The film is easy to apply to containers and/or covers and gives a satisfactory seal during sterilisation and storage.
